Freedom. It's a word packed with meaning. For the one locked away in prison, it is the essence of all aspirations. For the one discouraged by physical disability, it has special meaning. Deeper than the physical aspect of freedom is that which can only be realized in the mind. Captivity of the mind, I believe, is the most severe bondage, for everything else is colored by our thinking.
Jesus said that bondage to sin is what He sets us free from. It is in the mind that sin destroys all security, and therefore, here is the epicenter of liberation.
And what does freedom look like? Take a peek at His law. He offers to write it on your heart. That's true freedom.
His freedom, it is perfect,
His freedom, it is deep.
His freedom is the open door,
His every Word to keep.
His freedom is the only way,
To know what love is.
His Freedom is the pathway,
To being holy, His.
One little bit of force,
Mars the temple soul.
Distorting Truth and Purity,
Taking brutish toll.
So this broken image,
engraved upon mankind
Distorts the god-like figure
Far below a beast design.
The way of force, it masquerades,
In many shapes and forms.
The form most bleak that it takes on,
Is to be love in cultish norm.
But the fruit must tell,
It never lies:
A love without freedom,
It always dies.
God's freedom reaches into eternity,
Forever the joy will grow.
His freedom is the heaven,
That His dear children know.
